Artist's Statement

I hope, through my work, I can help increase awareness of the fragility of nature, and the need to protect and nurture it. So many of our treasures are disappearing before our eyes, and if care is not taken, generations to come will not have the experience of sitting in a field of wildflowers, or watching a sunset over a mountain lake, or observing young wildlife frolicking in the woods. If our natural treasures are percieved as something precious and perishable, we will be more apt to want to protect them. We protect what we value, and we value what we understand.

Biography

Theresa Husarik is a wildlife and nature photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since moving to Utah in 1987, she has discovered and has become captivated by the natural beauty that abounds in the surrounding National Parks and wild areas. She spends several weeks throughout the year traveling around the area (and occasionally around the world) to take pictures.

Though she now specializes in wildlife and wildflowers, she is interested in all facets of nature. Through photographs, she hopes to show how precious and fragile our natural resources are, and to convey the idea that nature is something we must protect and let flourish for generations to come.

She believes the key to good nature photography is knowing the subject's habits and habitats, combined with technical skill and creative vision. Her photos have been exhibited around Salt Lake City at various establishments, and have won numerous local, national and even international awards. See more of her work on her web site: www.WildThingsPhoto.com .

Her teaching credentials include: teaching digital imaging at the Salt Lake Art Center, and wildflower and wildlife workshop leader. She is also a member of the Salt Lake Photographic Print Society.
